As romantic and gorgeous as the rains can be, it does tend to get slightly drab at times. The perfect way to cheer up…
Its something about the summers…the less work-load, excruciating heat confining you to air conditioned regions and mostly your home during the days and more…
The crazy heat really knows how to do a number on my skin…a few bops of acne always pay a visit when the weather…
Everywhere you look right now, you see prints – all kinds – especially the animal kinds these days. And its EVERYWHERE. And I’m not…
Came across this very pleasant and pretty video by J.Crew on their shoes and how they make us feel. The whole thing somehow makes…
“Retail activism” is taken to new heights at Sahachari Foundation’s Design One (DO) exhibitions, which activate social change through the shopping experience. The motivation behind the initiative is to raise funds for deserving NGOs and recognize the extraordinary creativity of talented designers.
Each time I visit the ‘first in India’ newly opened Sephora store in Select Citywalk Mall, New Delhi, it feels like my very first time there. With the excitement that Alice must have had in wonderland, there are new products to discover each time, a tester for EVERY product, there is never enough time to try out everything. I love it!!
Yes, its gonna be valentines day and all us girls wantt pretty things, gifts, meals, time, love..the list is endless. How about you get something for your man too this time. I am usually not too big on the whole ‘gifting’ thing but when I do come across stuff, cheap or expensive, that I know he will definitely get excited about, I make it a point to pick it up for him.
Its more about the experience than the store. Its a Ryan Gosling version of your house, the house you’d want your house to look like & be. The house you’d not want to leave. EVER. Its Good Earth, the Khan Market Store, New Delhi.
From the moment you walk into it to the moment you leave all you can think of is ‘Ooh I want that’ & ‘Ooh that will be so awesome in the house’ and maybe if you are a bit vocal then you’ll actually say all that out loud and seem like a basket-case, like me.
After the conclusion of the recent ‘Wedding Season’, yes, that IS a real thing in India, I decided to share some looks that I myself adopted while attending a couple of weddings this season. There are the outfits, but that is only the tip of the iceberg. The look comprises of so much more – the make-up, the jewelry and even the perfume you pick out. So here is the complete dig.
I know this post has been a bit delayed but nonetheless, I had to write about it because I had all these fabulous photographs lying with me. Couldn’t let them go to waste! Following are images from Nandita Mahtani’s show at the recently concluded Delhi leg of the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2012.
It was a very specific evening/cocktails dressy collection with the scales tipping slightly towards bling but it never looked in-you-face garish. Elegantly done.
As our first ‘store’ #stylaned feature we have none other than Rohit Bal’s spacious store located at Defence Colony, New Delhi. A well defined layout separating the menswear from the womenwear, this particular store focusses on Bridal-Wear.
Jenjum Gadi who was one half of the label KOGA sometime back now has his own label. Not afraid to experiment with materials, this time Jenjum has focussed on ‘Gota Work’. Using it in a way that is very different from the traditional Indianwear, he has given the concept of Gota a breath of fresh air! For example the jacket that is featured here, you will never be able to realize that its surface ornamentation has been done using ‘Gota’ but go close and you’ll see what I’m talking about. His collection ranges from some aggressive modernist gota usage to minimal ethereal forms and usage.
Their Spring/Summer 2013 collection ‘ZIP’, inspired by the works of Barnett Newman was fresh, vibrant and just the right doses of classy and sexy! A treat for New Delhi since this was their first time showing at Wills India Fashion Week.
The big pops of color-blocked cherry red and aquamarine were so exciting!
If you have seen the recent #Stylaned feature on Label Ritu Kumar, you would also be knowing that the collection used in it is part of her latest Spring/Summer 2013 collections which was showcased as part of the Grand Finale in the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week.
You can literally take a whiff of the profound romance that exudes off of Ritu Kumar garments. THAT is how much I have always been in love with her and her work. While a lot of people may say she lacks the radical ‘newness; that a lot of designers belonging to the younger generation bring to Indian Fashion, she really doesn’t need to.
When you have such a specific theme/inspiration for a collection it can get a bit intimidating and the theme can easily dominate over your true sensibilities. However it was such a pleasure to see Atsu incorporate the ‘North – Eastern’ sensibilities with such ease into his collection.
