As the last show for NYFW SS16 that I attended this season (also my first ever NYFW!!), the Bibhu Mohapatra runway show was the perfect ending for me! An absolutely stunning collection, impeccable surface ornamentation, flawless silhouettes and execution. The Spring 2016 collection was inspired by the life of Annemarie Schwarzenbach, who was a writer, traveler, photographer and journalist from Zurich. She mostly dressed in menswear and was a style icon of the Bauhaus era. Which is why you can also spot some Bauhaus influence in the collection in the form of motifs, lines, geometric shapes and surface embellishments. Delicious silks, crepes, leather, jacquard and neoprene were most of the materials used. All pieces are exquisitely form-flattering and luscious.
A special thank you to Nonita Kalra for introducing Naina & I to Bibhu and making this possible to begin with!
Hope you enjoyed the post!
