The KYE runway show at NYFW was kinetic, fun and pop. The collection of this Seoul based label by Kathleen Kye drew heavy visual inspiration from the electric K-Pop scene. K-Pop is short for Korean pop and is a musical genre that originated in South Korea that has very characteristic audio-visual elements. Built on that, KYE had a lot of street silhouettes with bright candy colors that were punctuated with basic blacks and hints of metal accents. Definitely new-age and young. My personal favorites were the ‘HATE’ emblems on some of the pieces, the metallic maxi dress with a huge heart-shaped cut out at the back, the army jacket and the statement sunglasses that the models were wearing. A lot of energy and crisp direction in the collection as well as the show! LOVE!
This is what the invite looked like.
