As our first ‘store’ #stylaned feature we have none other than Rohit Bal’s spacious store located at Defence Colony, New Delhi. A well defined layout separating the menswear from the womenwear, this particular store focusses on Bridal-Wear. Starting off with a small layout of neck-ties in elegant colors and indian motifs, the menswear section begins with ivory white sherwani coats and ranges towards deep reds and indigo blues with nothing less than perfection in the form of surface ornamentation which is ofcourse much more vibrant on the womenswear. You can almost imagine a girl shopping for her wedding trousseau getting lost in the store like a little girl in a candyland. Ranging from subtle and modest color palettes to bright vibrant ones, one can imagine how it would be easy to lose your true sense of design but you can clearly see why Rohit Bal has been in the business, and been so damn good at it for so long now. With gorgeous detailing, exquisite block-printing, gota-work and fine craftsmenship, there is enough for the eyes to feast on.
This post is mainly focussed towards detailed shots of some of his garments. There are however a few other shots of the accessories (bags, clutches, scrves) and his perfume.
I feel there is a special sort of comfort that men will feel at this store since there are garments (read =sherwanis, kurtas, etc) that do not have in-your-face bling which I have seen a lot of men hate for their wedding-wear. A lot of work has no doubt gone into all the garments but men usually prefer the less-is-more sense which is available in beautiful garments at the Rohit Bal store.
